Sound Off About DeLay
posted on behalf of Melanee Farrah:
What do you think about the Delay indictment? Does it really matter? Will it have an effect on the '06 elections? Or will it just blow over like everything else "they" do?
Well everyone here's what I think... I think that he'll be fine. They will hone in on the Democrats' criticism - treating it as a ploy of trying to make political gains. And you know what, some foolish people will believe it. They won't address any of the charges against him. They will smear whoever says anything negative (truthful or not) and eventually it will go away. It's amazing how "real issues" are rarely addressed when it comes to these types of situations.
The Repubs have cultivated a fierce loyalty that the Dems have yet to. But its foundation is fortunately and unfortunately built on money. It is the cause of issues such as these arising and the source of the loyalty that prevails during these situations. Does all of this mean democrats should sit down and be quiet? Heck no!! It is our hesitation in response to negative coverage that holds us back. Regarding the election - - someone like Chuck Hagel, McCain, or Frist will basically have a clean slate because they all represent a "republican w/a new vision" (have you heard that before). Sound depressing? Iit is. The same fact remains, when we can get someone w/a lot of charisma & appeal (Bill Richardson - - New Mexico; M. Warner -- Virginia; maybe Evan Bayh of Indiana) we may actually have a chance. Bush didn't lose the '92 elections & Perot didn't spoil it - - Clinton won it. We've got to start playing to win.
Didn't Malcolm X say something about chickens always coming home to roost? He could be fine – but I think it will have an interesting overlapping effect on Frist and Bush. Enough of my waffling and proselytizing - What do you think?
